Cane Creek Farm
Eliza MacLean Located in Snow Camp, N.C., Cane Creek Farm is a heritage breed pork farm run by Eliza MacLean. Specializing in Ossabaw pork, a heirloom breed native to Georgia and descendant from the famous Iberico pigs of Spain, the farm also produces heirloom chickens and eggs and a wide range of vegtables and herbs in summer. We also offer grass-fed beef in cooperation with Wells Branch Farm / Braeburn Farm. The farm specializes in Pasture Raised Heirloom Breed pork and is owned and operated by farmer Eliza MacLean with help from her eight year old twins, Enid and Quinn. Cane Creek is known locally and nationally for its humane treatment of animals and high standard meat. We are endorsed by the Animal Welfare Institute.
Our products are available by appointment at the farm (farm visitors are very welcome and farm tours are available, please call ahead), and at the Carrboro farmer's market on both Wednesday afternoons (4-7PM) and Saturday mornings (7AM-12NOON). In addition to fresh meat selections such as loins, ham steaks, pork chops, ribs, and shanks, we also offer whole hams, sausage (mild and hot), and brats. Cane Creek Farm is situated on 20 acres in Snow Camp, NC, in the heart of Alamance County (but we share close to 600 acres of space with neighboring Braeburn Farm). In addition to being home to the Ossabaw Island Hog, we also raise Gloucestershire Old Spots, Farmer's Hybrids, and our very own Crossabaw breed, a mix of the Farmer's Hybrids and Ossabaw Island Hogs. The lively animal population on the farm is comprised of a Noah's Ark of breeds including a variety of Heirloom Breed Chickens and Saxony & Cayuga Ducks, Dorper Sheep, Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Miniature Donkeys and New Zealand Red Devon Cattle. Visitors to the farm are constantly amazed at the happy interaction of all our species, and many have compared Cane Creek to a storybook or child's vision of a farm.
