Hickory Nut Gap Farms Meats is committed to providing high quality, locally grown foods. We offer pasture-raised pork, beef, lamb and free-range poultry raised without the use of antibiotics, growth hormones or other chemicals.
Our pork is truly the other red meat: full of flavor, natural color, and gorgeously marbled. Once you taste our pork, there will be no turning back!
We farm with the seasons. In the summer, we fence wooded areas that need clearing, and turn the pigs out to follow their instincts, resulting in a clean forest floor where grasses may be planted. In the winter, we keep the pigs warm and dry in the barn where they turn the barn bedding into compost to be used later as fertilizer. In the spring and fall, we raise our pigs on pastures, rotating them through a paddock system and planting annuals behind for them to eat the next time around.
Our farm store is open Thursdays, between 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tours are available during this time as well – bring the kids! In addition to our delicious meat and poultry, we sell an array of fruits and vegetables, gifts baskets and homemade goods,
On Saturdays, we can be found at the North Asheville Tailgate Market from 7:00 a.m. to noon. The market is now located on the campus of UNC-Asheville.
You can also order our naturally delicious meats and poultry on-line or over the phone. We accept credit card orders and offer shipping services.
